Howling Good Halloween Home Decorating Ideas
I've found that decorating your home for Halloween is an ongoing process. Everywhere I look on the web, I see where people have their own Halloween yard and home decorations chronicled on a year-by-year basis and often cataloged by prop so that we can see the steady improvements and additions being made.
People are more than proud to show the world, as well. Who could blame them. It's a lot of hard work, in many cases, to come up with props that will scare the pants off of kids and adults alike. It takes time to see what works and what doesn't. ![]()
I've found an eerily grotesque amount of home-grown Halloween websites with some really cool ideas and a few corny ideas just for fun. All with the main focus of having a good..but scary time.
This..is..about kids having fun...remember??!! C'mon...think back. Now it's your turn to make some memories for your neighborhood children and/or party guests.
Perfessor Evil and Mistress Evil are California home dwellers that give up an extraordinary amount of time during the course of a year to entertain all who dare visit their nightmare of terror. They've got lots of daytime photos so you get a better view of how the home and yard are decorated and then some night shots to see how it is intended to look. When you park a hearse in front of your house year-round, you're pretty much a dedicated Halloween fanatic.
Here's a video of Perfessor Evil's Nightmare (an awesome homemade haunt). A lot of time, effort and creativity has gone into this homemade haunt so sit back and enjoy:
Now this is one psick vid, yo...
I talked a little bit about the Brewster Yard Haunt in my recent post on DIY prop building. So here's the video of the Brewster Yard Haunt and all that it entrails...um...entails. Don't miss it!

They change haunts on a daily basis so check it out. They also give daily haunt tips. Excellent tips for the DIYer! Hot hostess Danielle Harris is another GREAT reason to check them out. She hosts the Route 666 home haunt webisodes.

Some Halloween Goofiness Just For Fun!
The following isn't a home haunt but it's a hoot to watch. See this humorous video of monsters dancing to the tune of My Humps:
I really like the following night photo of a graveyard scene from The Dead End so I hope they don't mind if I let you enjoy it, as well.

Thanks for the insight and link to Kevin's work, Sister Sinister. His 'Humps' video is very entertaining and my kids love to watch it year 'round. Lots of great costumes and it's loads of fun to watch.
FYI,
the marionettes, oversized costumes, etc. shown in the video from You Tube dancing to "My Humps" are all the creation of Kevin Alvey (Mr.Gore) of Gore Galore Inc.
"Getcha some Gore!" In fact that is likely him doing the dancing in most of the costumes and is definitely him in the shots of a tall guy in the green leotard which is what is worn under some of the costumes.
He is a genius and was a creator/partner in the Civitan haunt in Newburgh Indiana. His creations have been used in movies, television shows, parades and much more. He's also the nicest creepy guy you'll ever meet.
