Things to Consider When Choosing a Garage Door

| Comments (1)

Garage_door_types.jpgIf you are considering replacing your garage doors, you may be surprised by the variety of doors available to you.

Made out of metal, wood, composite, or fiberglass and with four different types to choose from, there are over a dozen combinations to consider before making a choice.

Types of Garage Doors

Roller

This type of garage door is the most space efficient type, but many homeowners shun roller doors because of their industrial appearance. Made out of thin aluminium strips, this garage door rolls up into a drum and is often automated when installed.

Sectional

Sectional garage doors are the most popular type of garage doors. The door is normally made of wood or metal and is divided into several horizontal sections. The largest advantage of this type of door is its ability to maintain a traditional appearance without having to swing out to open.

Homes With RV Garage Plans and RV Planned Communities

We just got back from a trip to central Florida and I noticed that RV sales are HUGE in Florida. We saw RV sales lot after RV sales lot everywhere we went.

This lead me to think back regarding the article about RV garage house plans that I posted previously and that maybe...just maybe...there might be some homes in the area to accommodate these behemoth RV's that (mostly) retired folks are buying.

Well, I was right.

Custom RV Garage House Plan

| Comments (6)

If you've got an RV or motorhome these days, you've spent a pretty penny on all of the things needed that go along with hitting the road in your RV. Petro is expensive (Update: gas was around $2/gal when I wrote this...now in June '08 gas is over $4/gal and rising!!!), campsite reservations aren't cheap, not to mention the time and energy you've put into organizing a trip. When you've made your way back to your "stick home" you'll need somewhere to park your motorhome or RV.

Maybe you park your RV in a storage facility due to neighborhood by-laws, city ordinances or space constraints. Maybe you are able to keep your RV on your driveway or property. Consider yourself lucky. Some folks even go so far as to build a house that has a custom built garage for an RV or motorhome of their dreams.

Here's a great example of a custom built home with an RV garage located near Aiken, South Carolina.

Here are some of my thoughts that came to mind when I saw it.
