A Subdivision And An Old Cemetery

| Comments (0)

Ready for another post on dumb homebuilding ideas?homebuilding_reader_question.JPG

A reader wrote in recently asking about the "very, very creepy" thing that was smack dab in the middle of this great little new subdivision in Paulding County named Sweetwater Bridge that features Frank Betz-designed craftsman style homes. The reader's question is not a dumb one. It's what is within the neighborhood that qualifies this post as a dumb homebuilding idea.

The "very, very creepy" in question is a very old family(?) cemetery located in the heart of the neighborhood. There wasn't a fence surrounding it at the time we visited back in March 2008 so at the very least the developer should definitely do something (if they haven't done so already) to keep people out and...well...in, too, in an aesthetically pleasing way.

The TwoDaLoo Double-Sided Toilet: Not For Me (Us)

| Comments (3)

Is there no limit to the level of stupidity of products that inventors come up with? Most likely not. Case in point...the TwoDaLoo.  Break it down by syllable and what you have is a double-sided toilet where you can chat it up with your mate while you both...'go'...at the exact same time...side-by-side...facing one another. Well intentioned as it may have been at that "Eureka" moment for the inventor, it's a bit unseemly for the general public, in my humble opinion.

They say that love is blind, and for you to consider this dual-toilet option maybe love would also be deaf and you'd have anosmia. What's a little dueling tinkles between lovers? And when you're through discussing your plans for the evening you can both flush in unison. What a concept.

Jack and Jill Bathroom Doors Require Space

| Comments (0)

Get ready for some more dumb homebuilding ideas to come your way. We've come across a few recently and here's another candidate.

We think Jack and Jill bathrooms are a great feature to include in a home plan for the kids rooms...when there's room for it! Some of the best Jack and Jill plans we've seen always...always include double vanities, water closet with a door, tub/shower, linen closet and elbow room.

I want to emphasize that last point...ELBOW ROOM!

Designing A Bathroom Floor Plan? Use Common Sense

Holy crap! It's time for another dumb homebuilding idea post. I've posted a few other dumb homebuilder ideas in the past and this one stinks, too!

It has to do with poor water closet plans.

Let's take a peek inside of this water closet and you might just ask yourself...'what were they thinking???'

Really Bad Color Choices To Paint Your House

| Comments (0)

I can't help myself! Here are more examples of DUMB homebuilding ideas!!

There isn't a shortage of choices of dumb home building ideas out there...only the time it takes for me to put it all together for your reading and viewing enjoyment. This post actually falls under the category of bad choices for exterior house paint color schemes and/or choices. I think that the owners of these houses paint them in these extreme colors for the attention factor. Either that or there was a GREAT sale on unwanted paint colors!

What do you think? See for yourself...

The photo above shows a home that has a dumb homebuilding idea (in my opinion) inside of the home. I double-dare ya not to read more!!

Would You Want To Live Under One Of Those Huge Powerline Towers? Not Me!

This post on those huge, towering powerlines and the placement of homes nearby is the start of a whole new category for me: Dumb Homebuilding Ideas. It hit me like a bolt of lightning when we were driving around gathering landscaping ideas from established neighborhoods nearby. Dumb Homebuilding Ideas will encompass anything we see as just not a smart decision regarding homebuilding, subdivisions, landscaping and, I'm quite sure, a few other things that we'll come across in our home viewing travels.
