Charleston Style Homes Exude Southern Luxury

Charleston style homes offer the finest in southern living with lots of outdoor living space for warm afternoons.

Stalking, specifically house stalking, is an ugly and unseemly term. But, that's how this blog of mine started back in 2006 and I'd like to get back to what I am passionate about, unashamedly stalking houses. Basically, I enjoy house stalking: new houses that are under construction from groundbreaking up to completion in order to view where and how all of the pieces come together to make everything work. move-in ready homes. They almost always have the fixtures and appliances installed … [Read more...]

Safe Rooms Become Mainstream

safe-rooms

One of the coolest products that was being shown at the 2011 Fall Atlanta Home Show was a safe room. Safe rooms seem to be getting more press these days because of advances in their design and also because the weather here in the U.S. has been quite severe in recent years. The safe room we saw at the show is manufactured by Safe Space Storm Shelters and was one of two products in that category of products at the Atlanta Home Show, which was surprising. This is a market segment that is … [Read more...]

aiken-sc-towhnouses3

There haven't been many opportunities to view quality model homes and communities in my area for the past couple of years. It has been a development that I've had my eye on for the past year, or two. The Village at Woodside is just that...a planned village. The home plans are a mix of upscale townhouses and single-family residences. There is … [Read more...]

Builders tend to keep them under lock and key to keep out thieves that are after appliances and copper. But one of the many things that I still can do is look at the exterior of homes, new and old alike, and gather ideas.  … [Read more...]

How To Choose A Farmhouse Sink

If you're in the market for a new sink and have a little bit of flexibility in the dimensions, capacity and cost for your kitchen sink selection, you might want to consider a farmhouse sink (a.k.a. apron-front sink) for your new home or to replace your old kitchen sink. If there is one sink that I had to choose from amongst all of the types of kitchen sinks available, it would be a farmhouse sink. The simplicity of a single, deep sink is very attractive and is the key element in the … [Read more...]

Go With A Subway Tile Backsplash For Classic Style & Durability

A subway tile backsplash is about as simplistic as it gets when it comes to classic design choices for kitchens. Clean lines, simple patterns combine with easy cleaning and durability for a popular choice for many homeowners that desire a good value. Subway tiles have been around since the artistic team of Heins & LaFarge first installed them in the New York City subway system back in 1904. They were part of the Arts and Crafts movement and worked in the Beaux-Arts architectural … [Read more...]
