HGTV's 2008 Dream Home, located in a private development dubbed The Shore at Islamorada on Plantation Key, FL, is a beachcomber's dream (and a fisherman's dream, for that matter). I was finally able to sit down and take in the "TV tour" of the home the other night and saw one desirable feature after another hit the screen that should suit many dreamers/planners who long for a home by the sea.

The home is one of eight homes to be built on the property with 275 ft. of private beach and boat slips at their disposal on Florida Bay. It's a magnificently designed home and property that takes full advantage of the location and climate with its' lofty three-stories to take in the million-dollar views from most rooms in the house. It's a shame that the home will not remain as the sole mailbox for the property but I'd take it in a heartbeat!
Can I Win This Dream Home For Keeps?
Of course you can win it if lady luck is on your side. As a matter of fact, I'd encourage you to enter the giveaway...but then again you'd lessen my chances of winning. If you want the hassle of figuring out how to pay the property taxes and all that other mess on a total prize package worth $2,206,500.00, then go for it!
Wait! Wait! Where are you going so fast? I've got just a couple more things I want to tell you about it and then you can enter the giveaway.
The Lap of Luxury
There are too many desirable features to mention all of them but there were a few features that really nailed it for me. The first one is the third floor, also know as the master suite/retreat complete with breakfast nook, spa shower, custom walk-in closet and private balcony...and THE VIEW. There's also a great gourmet kitchen with the high-end appliances you'd expect. What you might not expect is a very handy pot filler above the Wolf 36" dual-fuel range and a well-placed SubZero fridge/freezer located in the pantry. Oh yeah...and a HUGE stainless steel sink and dishwasher to tidy up when your guests have left for the evening. Two other unexpected, yet thoughtful, spaces in the home are the fishing closet for all your gear and an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. Very, very nice!
I encourage you to take the official HGTV 2008 Dream Home 360 degree virtual tour for a closer inspection.
