Why We Chose A Natural Gas Range vs Electric

| Comments (3)

Our hard-wired, 18 year old, electric drop-in Kenmore range/oven has seen better days. It was builder-installed when we bought the house new back in the late-80's and it's been a good little oven and range...up until the past few months.

Something had to be done!

Here's why we went with a natural gas range...

How To Install A Natural Gas Range and How To Add A Gas Supply Line

| Comments (61)

Are you considering installing a natural gas range in your home?

I did it myself and I have some great practical advice for installing a natural gas stove in your home. I also had to add onto the existing natural gas supply line in my home to make this work.

It's been quite an ambitious learning experience for me but it's also been a rewarding one, as well.
Why? Because it was easier than I thought and I saved a wad of cash.

We switched out our old electric coil range with a natural gas stove. If you're thinking about doing the same or possibly want to extend your existing natural gas lines to a new outdoor grill, for instance, I invite you to get comfortable and heed my advice. The same principles will apply in dealing with cast iron pipe.

Put your common sense on overdrive and read on.

Really Bad Color Choices To Paint Your House

| Comments (0)

I can't help myself! Here are more examples of DUMB homebuilding ideas!!

There isn't a shortage of choices of dumb home building ideas out there...only the time it takes for me to put it all together for your reading and viewing enjoyment. This post actually falls under the category of bad choices for exterior house paint color schemes and/or choices. I think that the owners of these houses paint them in these extreme colors for the attention factor. Either that or there was a GREAT sale on unwanted paint colors!

What do you think? See for yourself...

A Uniquely Styled Gothic Arch Entry Water Closet

| Comments (0)

The water closet in the upstairs bathroom of the newly constructed English cottage-style home that I visited recently is unique, to say the least.

"Expect the unexpected." A mantra easily applied to this extraordinarily built English cottage.

Did I mention the water closet is unique? Here's why...

Ladies and gentleman... another Dumb Homebuilding Idea!

The photo above shows a home that has a dumb homebuilding idea (in my opinion) inside of the home. I double-dare ya not to read more!!

A Master Bath Floor Plan Worthy Of ...Monty Hall???

| Comments (4)

We came across a really cool master bathroom floor plan the other day. It consisted of 3 rooms in one: his & her pedestal sinks with individual mirrors and bead board cabinetry in one room plus a vanity for the lady of the house; a glass door enclosed tiled shower w/seat AND a garden tub in another room; and a water closet at the rear (no pun intended) of the bathroom.

I could just go through the motions by describing it to you and showing you some images of it, but let's have some fun with it...think outside of the box for a change. After all...this is The Fun Times Guide To Homebuilding
Let's play one of my all-time favorite 70's TV game shows, a homebuilding version of Let's Make A Deal! C'mon...it'll be fun. Pick the right door and you can view a great looking master bath. Pick one of the other two doors and you could be looking at the booby prize (a linen closet with wire shelving) or the mediocre prize (a built-in hall tree & mud room).
