A Walk-In Closet Within A Walk-In Closet In This Home In Blackberry Run

In general, I find pantries and walk-in closets in new homes somewhat boring. In most new homes they tend to be strictly utilitarian and have little, if any, character and that's just fine for the average homebuyer. We were looking at some homes recently that had closet space, seemingly, everywhere you looked. There was nothing spectacular about the closets themselves, just that there were many of them within each home...with the exception of the walk-in closet within the walk-in closet in the Devonshire plan in Blackberry Run.

Seven Hills Master Planned Community

The homes are located in the Blackberry Run section of Seven Hills subdivision and it is a master-planned Cousins Properties community in northeast Paulding County, Georgia. My understanding is that there will be upwards of 2800+ homes spread out over 2000 acres and prices will range from the $170's - $600's, a wide range indeed. There are several sections in this huge subdivision, located just a couple miles north of our home, that will definitely have to be explored in the coming weeks, months or even years by the looks of the GIGANTIC size of the master plan. Seven Hills is "built out" about a quarter of the way so I've got plenty to look at for awhile.

The homes we looked at in the Blackberry Run section were Lots 332: The North Hampton, 290: The Courtland & 291: The Devonshire. Open this link and scroll down to see more info on the homes we looked at.

Walk In Closets

We saw some relatively boring (to me) walk-in closets today but there were plenty of them to be found in each house we went into. The builder of these particular homes, Loren Construction, obviously likes to install double doors because many rooms and closets within the homes had them. We saw a couple of walk-in pantries, as well, that are a BIG plus in any home. More about that in another post.

A Closet Within A Closet

We did see a somewhat unusual sight in the form of a closet-within-a-closet in the master suite of the home in The Devonshire plan. The closets were accessible through the well-appointed bathroom. It reminded me of a labryinth (to a certain degree). My wife was quick to point out that the inner-most closet could be used as an "off-season" clothing storage area. I'm sure that she's onto something there because that's more her area of expertise. I'm thinking that the larger of the two closets could be designated as the wife's domain and the much smaller inner closet would go to the man-of-the-house. You decide! I'm glad to see homebuilders are putting in more closet space because the more closet space sq. ftg. you have, the less cluttered your home is likely to look.

Do you know if it has always been a waste transfer station or was it also a dump at one time? I used to take my yard waste there that Paulding Waste & Recycle wouldn't take (10+ years ago) and I would see all kinds of household refuse there. I don't recall seeing "food-type garbage" and I don't know if the waste transfer station has a liner for the property, or not, but I think the point of Jennifer"s comment was the concern of the truck traffic to/from the waste transfer station.

It is just a waste transfer station not a real "garbage dump", they collect the waste from Paulding county residents and businesses and transfer it to a "real" dump site.

Michelle...I know very little of the shooting range and model airplane flying facility. Just what Jennifer mentions in her comment. I have been unable to locate anything on the web. I guess I'll have to resort to picking up the phone sometime to see what's up with them. The dump has been there a very long time and will probably close in the near future due to the longevity of dumps, in general.

I would like to hear more on the dump, shooting range, and airplane facility near Seven Hills. I was interested in this community until I was driving by and noticed the "waste transfer station" sign.

Jennifer...Funny you mention the waste transfer station. I was aware of the county dump (sorry folks...call 'em like I see 'em). I was not aware of the shooting range and model airplane flying facility within the subdivision. That is a HUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEE piece of land that they are developing there and unfortunately they swallowed up the land those facilities you mention. We also thought the same as you and your mother did, that we wouldn't want dump trucks rumbling through the subdivision on the median-divided road even though all of the different sections of the development are set back from the main drag. I didn't realize the dump was there until our second exploratory visit of the development. Quite a surprise. I'll look into it more and you can bet I'll be putting up a post in the dumb homebuilding ideas section in the near future about what you've mentioned. Perfect idea Jennifer. Thanks

Did you happen to notice the waste transfer station in the center of
the subdivision, as well as, the shooting range and model airplane flying
facility? What are your thoughts on this? My mom was ready to sign a
contract when we read the disclosures for the land owned by Paulding
County smack dab in the middle of the community. They seem to be selling
houses there, but concerned about the dump truck traffic going straight
through the main entrance to deposit trash. Any info or thoughts would
be helpful. Maybe this should go into the dumb homebuilding section?

I appreciate that someone has decided to post some informatiion about Seven Hills. There isn't much out there on the net besides a real estate page, or two. I look forward to your upcoming posts and I'm going to bookmark your site so I don't miss any of them. Thanks

p.s. You might want to consider checking out The Reserve, which is just down the road from Seven Hills. Lots of cottage style homes to choose from.
